If the Diablo developers should have learned anything from Diablo 3, it's that having a bad launch can stain a game in a way that people will never forget. New players will be actively dis-incentivized from playing on Ladder, and will not have any interest in making new characters and losing all of their progression when/if Ladder is re-implemented. Other issues like ebug and WSG can be re-implemented with patches, but this cannot. Removing Ladder-Only item restrictions and not having Ladder functionality in-game at release for Diablo 2 Resurrected will cause irreparable harm to the Ladder community, and the long-term health of D2R.Īmong the numerous issues discovered during the D2R Beta, this single issue will fracture the community in a way that it will never be able to recover from, because it will happen immediately upon the games release and its ramifications will be far reaching.
